외국인 전용 철도이용권인 `KR 패스´ 이용객이 크게 늘고, 수도권 중심의 관광객을 전국으로 확산하는데 기여한 것으로 나타났다.

코레일은 `KR 패스´ 이용객이 2013년 73개국 2만 8,893명으로 집계돼, 전년도 1만 9,577명 대비 47.6%나 증가했다고 23일(일) 밝혔다.

주 이용구간은 서울-부산, 서울-동대구, 서울-신경주, 서울-대전 등으로 `KR 패스´가 수도권 중심의 인바운드 관광시장을 지역단위 관광으로 분산시키는데 기여한 것으로 분석됐다.

※ KR 패스는 일정기간(1·3·5·7·10일용) 동안 KTX(일반실)이하의 열차를 무제한 이용할 수 있는 외국인전용 철도패스로, Normal Pass(성인용), Child Pass(4-12세미만 어린이용), Saver Pass(2-5인 동행자티켓), Youth Pass(국제학생증 소지자)로 4가지 종류가 있다.

이용객 편의를 위해 코레일은 3월 1일(토)부터 인천공항에 위치한 `공항철도 트래블센터(Airport Railroad Travel Center)´에서도 `KR 패스´ 판매를 시작한다.

`공항철도 트래블센터´는 인천공항역과 여객터미널 연결지점에 있으며, 공항 입국장을 나서면 보이는 안내표시 중 노란 글씨로 표기된 공항철도 안내를 따라 지하 1층으로 가면 쉽게 찾을 수 있다.

트래블센터에는 언어권별 전문 투어 매니저(영어·일본어·중국어)가 상주하여 외래관광객 대상 철도이용정보 외 한국의 관광명소 및 교통, 호텔 등 숙박에 관한 안내 서비스를 받을 수 있다.

최연혜 코레일 사장은 “KR 패스가 한국의 숨은 매력을 외국인에게 알리고, 지역 관광시장 활성화에 기여하고 있다”며, “KR 패스를 이용하는 외국인에게 호텔, 면세점, 쇼핑시설 등 다양한 제휴할인 우대서비스를 지속적으로 개발할 계획이다.”라고 말했다.

KORAIL starts selling the pass at Incheon Airport from March

According to KORAIL, the number of KR PASS users increased sharply and the KR PASS is helping attract foreign tourists to destinations other than the Seoul Metropolitan area.

KORAIL said on March 23 that 28,893 foreigners from 73 countries bought the pass in 2013, a remarkable 47.6 percent increase from 19,577 of the previous year.

The pass holders traveled the most on the Seoul-Busan, Seoul-Dongdaegu, Seoul-Singyeongju and Seoul-Daejeon routes, indicating that the pass

contributed to the diversification of tourist destinations for foreign tourists to include provincial areas other than the typical tourist destination of the capital region.

※ The KR PASS is a rail pass that provides foreign visitors to Korea with unlimited access to the Standard Class seats of the KTX and conventional

trains for a fixed period (1, 3, 5, 7 or 10 days). The pass comes in four types depending on the passenger type : Normal Pass for adults, Child Pass for children aged 4 to 11, Saver Pass for groups of 2 to 5, and Youth Pass for youths aged 13 to 25 or International Student Identity Card holders.

For the convenience of foreign visitors wishing to purchase the pass, KORAIL starts selling it at the Airport Railroad Travel Center in Incheon International Airport from March 1.

The Travel Center is located on the B1 level at the intersection of the Incheon Airport station of the Airport Railroad and the passenger terminal. The center is easy to find by following the yellow “Airport Railroad” sign in the arrival hall.

The Travel Center is staffed with Tour Managers speaking English, Japanese and Chinese to provide foreign tourists with the information on rail services, tourist attractions, transportation and accommodation in Korea.
